From today, photographer Brian Merriam (1982, USA) will be sharing photos on the GUP Instagram until November 5th, posting from Montana. This is Merriam’s second takeover, featuring images of Montana, the sequel to The Last Best Place, which was previously featured online and in GUP#44, the Raw Issue. The Last Best Place focused on the wild nature of the US state, with photos taken on a road trip through the unspoiled land, rarely touched by civilisation. Previously, Merriam had only occasionally ventured into romanticism or symbolism, but the new work, which he will be showing on Instagram, captures the forlorn emotion and beauty of the landscape.
